VICTORIAN STOVE SET-- We are proud to introduce you to these lovely metal stoves! It took a lot of planning and a long time to get from Europe.

We sold many, many of these stoves when we had our walk-in doll store.

We carry stoves with different designs. This one has the vintage look of a Victorian kitchen. I call it 'Dutch Tiles' because the design on the back shows Dutch tiles with their popular designs, like windmills and ships. Another design reminds me of designs made popular by a family of artists in Florence, Italy, the della Robbias. Luca della Robbia was actually the artist who figured out how to tin glaze earthenware in the 16th century, a process that was used to make the tiles that were so very popular in Holland and Germany, and all over the world. History is fascinating! So many things are interconnected like that. I collect Dutch tiles, too, and I have some very old ones.

The tiles shown on this stove are 'circle tiles.' Tulips, in the early days, were very valuable. One tulip bulb could make a person very wealthy if sold at the right time. The Dutch became so good at growing tulips that most people think tulips all came from Holland. When we were in Turkey a few years ago we were told that tulips actually came from there! I don't know what is actually the truth...

This stove sits a little short for the 18 inch American Girl dolls, but its beauty more than makes up for it. (
The second picture shows a different design stove for size reference purpose only.) You can put it on a box to make it a little higher if you feel the need. It comes with everything you see in the first picture. It is made of painted metal with a gold plastic handrail across the front and plastic legs. The oven doors really open! Here's what you will receive:

  • Tin stove 10.5 inches tall x 9 inches wide x 5.5 inches deep (plus rail) with the cooking surface 5 inches above the ground. It has a lovely painted-tiles backsplash with an attached metal utensils rack with six holes. Styled to look just like an eighteenth-century iron stove with one burner and two coils for cooking (although you really could cook anywhere on one of these stoves) and water boiler.
  • SIX 'copper' plastic utensils, ranging from 2.5-4.5 inches long
  • Metal cross-piece that supports the covered pot over the left burner
  • Covered 'copper' stock pot
  • 'Copper' fry pan
  • Covered hot water boiler--this is where water was kept hot all the time for all sorts of uses, including baths! You can see the water spigot on front of the stove body for getting the water out.
  • Opening doors on front of the stove for access to the ovens and fire. That little bitty one is for scooping out the ashes.
Kirsten's mother would have been in Heaven if she had gotten a stove this pretty! Grandmary probably had one in her kitchen in that lovely Victorian mansion. Rebecca's mother may have had one, or a simpler one.

This stove will surely become an heirloom in lots of lovely American Girl dollhouses! It is extremely special. It is NOT recommended for very young children because will certainly not stand up to rough play. Lovvbugg is the only company offering this item in the US. We have gone to a lot of trouble to get them for you and have carried them for several years. The quality is spectacular!
