We have a family joke about metallic shoes. You have to understand metallic shoes were NOT a thing in the 80's and 90's, they were extremely uncommon... After we had been married for a few years Betsy found some silver sandals, much like these, and bought them. Richard thought they were awful (his mother used to wear odd gold shoes); Betsy thought they were cute. It was a standoff and Betsy won! Now metallic shoes are more common and she always tries to have some metallic sandals every year. Our three girls like to do the same. Richard just grins and bears it well.
